Official rule text

[BR-CO-03] Value added tax point date (BT-7) and Value added tax point date code (BT-8) are mutually exclusive.

Why this error occurs

The value added tax point date (BT-7) and the tax point date code (BT-8) are mutually exclusive: give either the concrete date or the code that says which date applies, never both. In UBL BT-7 is cbc:TaxPointDate and BT-8 is cac:InvoicePeriod/cbc:DescriptionCode; in CII BT-7 is ram:TaxPointDate and BT-8 is ram:DueDateTypeCode within ram:ApplicableTradeTax. The clash typically comes from an ERP mapping that always fills the date and additionally hard-codes a description code.

How to fix it

Decide which one you need and remove the other. If the tax point is a specific day, keep cbc:TaxPointDate / ram:TaxPointDate (format YYYY-MM-DD in UBL, format 102 YYYYMMDD in CII) and drop the code. If you want to say "the tax point is the invoice date / delivery date / payment date", keep only the code from UNTDID 2005: 3 (invoice document issue date), 35 (delivery date), 432 (paid to date). Most invoices need neither; when the delivery date equals the tax point, cac:Delivery/cbc:ActualDeliveryDate (BT-72) is usually sufficient.

Example (valid)

<cac:InvoicePeriod>
  <cbc:DescriptionCode>35</cbc:DescriptionCode>
</cac:InvoicePeriod>
