Official rule text

[BR-DEC-23] The allowed maximum number of decimals for the Invoice line net amount (BT-131) is 2.

Why this error occurs

The invoice line net amount must have at most two decimal places. The rule counts the characters after the decimal point in cac:InvoiceLine/cbc:LineExtensionAmount (UBL) or ram:SpecifiedTradeSettlementLineMonetarySummation/ram:LineTotalAmount (CII). It is common when quantity times a unit price with four decimals is written without rounding (3 x 1.2345 = 3.7035), or when a number formatter always emits three or more digits (100.000).

How to fix it

Round each line net amount to two decimals and format it with at most two fraction digits (3.70, 100.00). Unit prices (BT-146) may keep more decimals; the rounding applies to the line amount only. Compute cac:LegalMonetaryTotal/cbc:LineExtensionAmount (BT-106) as the sum of the rounded line amounts so BR-CO-10 still passes, and expect a tolerance of 0.02 per line in PEPPOL-EN16931-R120.

Example (valid)

<cbc:LineExtensionAmount currencyID="EUR">3.70</cbc:LineExtensionAmount>
...
<cac:Price><cbc:PriceAmount currencyID="EUR">1.2345</cbc:PriceAmount></cac:Price>
